This week we collected our hardware from IST, marking the start of the hands-on development phase of CosmoMeter. It’s a milestone, but also a reality check.
Where Things Stand
Most of our components are still on their way. Between stock availability, lead times, and the sourcing challenges we’ve written about before, a significant portion of the hardware hasn’t arrived yet. The driver board and IMU are among those still outstanding, along with several other parts.
What We Can Work With
The one subsystem we have everything for right now is the power system. So that’s where we start. Rather than waiting for the full bill of materials to land, we’re getting to work on what we have, testing, validating, and building out the power architecture while the remaining components make their way to us.
The Plan Going Forward
As each component arrives, it gets integrated. The development process won’t be linear, but it will be continuous. There’s no time to wait and starting with the power system is a solid foundation to build everything else on top of.
More updates to come as the hardware comes together.
