Software Development Is Under Way

As the first test node was assembled and the team got access to all 5 Arduino boards, we have now started developing the software that’s going to enable the evaluation of gait metrics from the data received from the IMU nodes via BLE.

Fourth Meeting With Our Project Supervisor

Today we held the fourth meeting with our project supervisor. We discussed topics such as following up on meetings with potential partners, updates on prototype assembly and overall next steps.

Hardware components arrived

All hardware components except for the five voltage regulators arrived today.

First Node Circuit Assembled

We assembled the circuit for our first IMU node. A breadboard implementation was chosen for testing purposes (instead of the perfboard intended for the final prototype).

Third Meeting With Our Project Supervisor

Bill of Materials Submitted

First Test Components Ordered

We ordered the list of components that make up our first IMU test prototype, having opted for a breadboard implementation for this iteration, as the main purpose for now is to develop a robust sofware base and to gather data reliably before stepping into more complex processes on the perfboard.

Meeting With Egas Moniz Hospital Physiotherapist

We held a meeting via Teams with Carla Ganhão, a physiotherapist at Egaz Moniz Hospital. She expressed the Neurology department’s interest in our project, seeing it as a potential tool when working with patients with not only movement impairing pathologies, such as Parkinson’s Disease or normal pressure hydrocephalus, but neurological ones as well, such as CVAs.

Meeting with IPS Physiotherapist

Later today we also held another meeting with a physiotherapist from the Escola Superior de Saúde (ESS) at the Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal, who provided valuable insights into the measurements required in real-world scenarios. We also talked about ways to differentiate our prototype from other products currently available on the market.

Architecture Document Submitted
