Project Kickoff: Wearable Motion Tracker for Physiotherapy & Gait Analysis
Table of Contents
Why this project:
Clinical gait analysis is often tied to expensive, stationary lab setups. We want a portable, clinician-friendly solution that can be used in real sessions with minimal setup time.
What we’re building
A modular set of wearable IMU nodes plus a processing pipeline for:
- orientation/segment tracking
- gait-event detection (heel strike / toe-off)
- clinically meaningful metrics (cadence, stride length, step width, stride time)
What’s next
In the next weeks we’ll focus on:
- first sensor-node prototype + enclosure/wearability
- baseline sensor fusion (e.g., Madgwick/EKF)
- initial validation vs. reference measurements
