Project Updates

Week 12 (May 26 - Jun 01)

Team Astroship
#project#progress#updates

This week began with our biweekly meeting with our supervising professor. During this meeting, we presented our two devices in operation: the detection and alert device, working independently as well as paired with the device for monitoring the correct use of PPE. We also showed the first draft of the 3D-printed enclosure, which will house the components for the noise detection and alert device. Meanwhile, our device for monitoring correct PPE usage will be integrated into the earmuffs provided by the company we’re collaborating with.

During the week, part of the team traveled twice to the Tagus Park campus to solder components onto the protoboard and start taking measurements for the development of the final version of the enclosure where the noise detection and alert device will be installed.

At the same time, the data reception and storage platform is still under development. Over the past week, we’ve been integrating the hardware with the software developed earlier. At this point, we’re already able to send data to the platform in the desired format, although it’s not yet being correctly linked to our database.

Throughout the week, part of the team also started preparing the poster for Eletro Day as well as the final project presentation.

Right now, the team is focused on ensuring that both devices are fully operational for the final visit to the company’s factory, which is scheduled for next Friday, June 6th. During this visit, we’ll also record part of the project presentation video and collect some data in a high-noise environment to test the effectiveness of our solution.
