It has been a rewarding journey and we are proud of everything we have built and achieved throughout this project.

This week, we are making our final push on the prototype development. Although our initial target completion date was the 26th, a slight delay means we are now in the final stretches of wrapping it up, specifically focusing on completing the input component. To streamline this final phase, tasks have been clearly distributed among all team members. Alongside the technical adjustments, we have officially kicked off work on our project deliverables, starting the production of both our exhibition poster and the promotional video. Finally, regarding the solution for the device’s external structure, we have begun developing a few promising design hypotheses, which we look forward to testing and refining in the coming days.

This week we continue to develop the audio component of our prototype, having already finalized the sound output, with only the user audio input remaining to complete the audio component. We are also revisiting and refining our ideas around the physical design of the solution — while we had initially envisioned a glasses-based form factor, the weight of the required hardware has led us to explore new possibilities for how the device can be built. Alongside this, we begin ideating and preparing our communication materials for ElectroDay, working towards a compelling and polished presentation of our project.

This week we held the architecture presentation, which went very well — the demonstration of our solution’s architecture was well received. Following the positive results we have been achieving with the camera component, we began shifting our focus towards the audio input/output side of the project, so that visually impaired users can interact with the AI through voice and receive spoken responses with the necessary guidance and indications.

This week we made significant progress on the prototype development, particularly regarding the camera component. We also had to adjust our technical approach — since running our own AI model was proving too slow in terms of response time, we pivoted to developing the software based on an external API, which should allow for much faster and more reliable results. In parallel, we continued preparing for the presentation taking place next Tuesday, where we will explain the architecture of our solution in detail.
