I am a Professor of Physics (Professor Auxiliar) at the Department of Physics of Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal, in the Scientific Area of Condensed Matter and Nanotechnology at the Department of Physics.

My research is performed at the Center of Physics and Engineering of Advanced Materials, (CeFEMA), where I am part of the Theoretical Physics Group.

I’m also an associate member at the Beijing Computational Science Research Center (CSRC).

I am interested in aspects of quantum matter in and out of equilibrium. The main focus of my research is on open quantum systems rendered out of equilibrium by current or voltage drives. Other aspects of my work include transport, localized magnetic moments, superconductivity, disorder effects, and quantum criticality. My research is of relevance for material science and nano-device applications for quantum sensing and quantum information processing.
