The History of Combinatorial Game Theory

Combinatorial Game Theory is a new discipline, the first paper appearing in 1902 and a codification of the main ideas was first attempted in 1976 by Berlekamp, Conway and Guy. I'll give an overview of the ideas and the people involved.
