Greetings from Team SeKEYrity! We’re excited to share the latest developments in our project this week. It’s been a busy time as we continue to refine our SeKEYrity system. Here’s a recap of our progress:
Hardware Development Progress: Significant strides have been made in hardware development, particularly in enhancing the functionality of the dispenser. The dispenser can now intelligently discard keys upon return if the user is not authorized to access them, leveraging real-time database access to verify user access privileges. Additionally, the system can identify and discard items that are not keys or are not recognized within our system. These advancements mark a significant step forward in refining the dispenser’s capabilities and ensuring efficient key management processes.
Web Application Enhancements: Exciting developments have taken place within the web application, with the implementation of a crucial feature: the ability for administrators to send email notifications to users who have not returned their keys within the designated timeframe. This feature enhances accountability and encourages timely key returns, contributing to a more streamlined access management process.
Hardware Challenges and Next Steps: While progress has been made, we’re currently facing challenges on the hardware front, particularly in consolidating all system functionalities within a single Raspberry Pi. Addressing these challenges is crucial to ensuring the seamless integration and operation of the SeKEYrity system. Our next steps will focus on resolving these hardware challenges and implementing additional features within the web application to further enhance user experience and system functionality. Stay tuned for further updates!
