Progress Update (Prototype) - Week 13 to 19 of May

This week, with the materials acquired and the circuit design finalized, we began with the prototype development by constructing the frame for our photovoltaic cells. Professor João Fernandes provided invaluable guidance, introducing us to various materials and support realization techniques.

We opted for a cost-effective and versatile approach, utilizing lego pieces from the Máquinas Elétricas Laboratory. This allowed us to not only build the frame, but also create two interlocking blind slats that rotate in unison. The lab technician, whose assistance we greatly appreciate, then helped us secure the step-motor to the frame, ensuring synchronized movement of both blind slats.

The following day, Miguel Roça expertly welded six photovoltaic cells in series. These cells were then adhered to the blinds, and the floating cables were pinned down to avoid obstructing their movement.

Finally, using a simple Arduino code, we successfully tested the step-motor, as demonstrated in the video to be presented.
