Closing the Chapter on Analytical Model Development
For the past few weeks, we had been building an analytical model. This journey comes to an end. Our analytical model team: Lucas Santos and Neelam Jaiesh vigorously studied data collected from PVGIS and concluded many fundamental correlations to kick of the project. We struggled with different things, firstly we didn’t realize the adjustment necessary to obtain solar irradiation, secondly encountered with bugs in coding on VBA in Excel, didn’t use the correct temperature for calculations and lastly mistook energy and power (wrongly used some notions).
As a team responsible for this study, we had to divide our tasks:
Data analysis from PVGIS: 2020 most of the calculations were made together, the graphs were equally divided. Neelam was responsible for calculating and drawing “Surface Temperature in a day in January and August”,” Solar Irradiation in a day in January and August”, “Power in a day in January and August” and “Solar Irradiation and Temperature in 2020” and “Energy Generated over the years”. Lucas was in charge of calculating and drawing “Ambient Temperature in a day in January and August”, “Solar Panel Temperature in a day in January and August”,” Ambient and Solar Panel Temperature in a day in August”,” Ambient and Solar Panel Temperature in a day in January”, “Energy generated in 2020”.
We had analyzed data from 2016 to 2020, Lucas did 2016 and 2017 analysis and Neelam worked on 2018 and 2019 data.
All the work and conclusions are summarized in the PDF below and we would also like to share with you our excel sheets.
