I am a Research Fellow at the Institute for Research and Innovation in Civil Engineering for Sustainability (CERis) and a Lecturer at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) of the University of Lisbon (ULisboa) .
I am graduated in Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of University of Oporto in 2001, completed an MSc in Transport Infrastructure from the same faculty in 2005, and completed a PhD in Transportation from the IST in 2010. Currently, I hold a Postdoctoral Research Grant from the Portuguese National Science Foundation (Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia).
My Research Areas span mobility and transport systems, and agent based modelling. Currently. I have interests on the real-time integration and streamlining of transport chains' processes.
I have been involved in several Research Projects co-funded by the European Union Research and Development Framework Programmes and other International and National institutions. In recent years, I started the Supervision of several PhD Student and MSc Students.
In what concerns the Teaching Activities, I am the responsible for the discipline of Freight Transport and Logistics of the Master Courses in Civil Engineering and in Transport Planning and Operations . I was awarded an Excellency in Teaching for the 2012/2013 academic year. I also hold regular lectures elsewhere, such as at the RailNewcastle an Intensive Programme in Railways Engineering of the University of Newcastle (United Kingdom), Master in Airport Management of the University of Alas Peruanas (Peru), or at the Faculty of Engineering of University of Oporto.
I am member of the several International Committees, including the Committee on Freight and Logistics of the Association for European Transport and member of the Committee on Intermodal Transfer (AP045) and on Aviation (AV020) and member of the Sub-Committee on Air Cargo of the Transportation Research Board (TRB).
