Who is Rosa?


Rosa Félix is an urban cycling mobility researcher. She has a masters degree in Territory and Urban Planning Engineering (2012) and a PhD in Transportation Systems (MIT Portugal program) from the University of Lisbon (2019). Her PhD thesis was awarded the prize for Best PhD in Urban Mobility by RedeMOV in 2021.

Rosa has been working in cycling mobility since 2012. In 2013, she collaborated in designing the Bicycle Mobility Plan of the Municipality of Loulé, and in the expansion of the EuroVelo Network to Portugal. Since 2017, Rosa has been working in several research and consultancy projects for the Municipality of Lisbon and public local and regional mobility agencies, as a CERIS postdoc researcher at Instituto Superior Técnico. She is co-founder and member of the U-Shift research lab.

Rosa is skilled in GIS, modern GIS, transport modelling, R software, and loves web mapping. She has also worked as a cartographer for the Portuguese Geographic Institute, and as project manager at Bike Pop in Lisbon.

A cycling activist in Lisbon since 2011, she is project coordinator at Cicloficina dos Anjos, a community bicycle shop. She was a Visiting Scholar in Portland State University in 2017/18, where she also volunteered at Bike Farm.
