I´m doing my PhD in Transportation Systems, in IST (Lisbon). During this period I intend to build a demand model that help autonomous vehicles to relocate around the city, while waiting for customers.

This goal, although more abroad than my previous explanation, will allow me to: analyse advantages and disadvantages of transport emergent technologies; assess the current mobility patterns, based on demand historical taxi data and other pieces of relevant information related to features of human decisions; and develop a robust model in order to optimize transport service, enhance its performance and quality.

I work in Rolls-Royce plc, in Derby, England, on design and product development. The company, although doesn´t make its well known cars, keeps on forefront of technology.

My goal here is to challenge Ana´s excitement on this theme with important arguments, in order to light up a valid and enriching debate and help to disseminate AV advantages and disadvantages.

I like the idea of contribution for a better Lisbon mobility and I believe that the most brilliant ideas come up from people´s divergent opinion. So, using my critical spirit and a lot of curiosity, I´ll try to help Ana, by questioning her ideas and bringing up fresh information to her work. Together I believe that we can make the difference about a real problem, autonomous vehicles.
