New nanohybrids silica/polymer aerogels monoliths dried at room temperature and ambient pressure were produced. For each nanoparticle size there is a particular content that results in a minimum value of apparent density, maximum porosity and larger mesopore dimensions.

Carbon dots were prepared by controlled chemical cutting of graphene oxide (GO) and two-photon absorption in the 700–1000 nm region recorded. At the same excitation energy, nonlinear excitation results in excitation-wavelength independent emission, while upon linear excitation the emission is excitation-wavelength dependent.

New graphene oxide/porpyrin hybrids bearing glycol chains at specific positions of the porphyrin core were synthesized. The effects on cell proliferation and viability, the generation of reactive oxygen species as well as the cell morphology after cell uptake were analysed using Saos-2 cells. The biocompatibility of these hybrids is promising for future application in biomedicine.
A V-shaped cationic dye for nonlinear optical bioimaging.

A symmetric cationic molecule with D-pi-A+-pi-D architecture was synthesized with high two-photon absorption cross-section of 1140 GM. Fluorescece microscopy revealed its presence inside the cell staining vesicular shape organelles in the cytoplasm and lifetime imaging microscopy shows that it is also able to penetrate within the nucleus.
